Professor Hutzel's presentation will discuss the 2011 Solar Decathlon, an international competition where collegiate teams design, build, and demonstrate net zero energy homes that are cost effective and attractive. The competition took place in Washington, DC this past September. Purdue's entry, called the INhome, earned an overall second place finish by scoring well in contests dealing with solar energy production, HVAC, and appliance performance. The INhome is being re-built in Lafayette, IN, where it will ultimately be used as a private residence.
